Let's visit the Sanctuary as it might look and sound for a scheduled religious service. The first word of the Torah, "B'reshit," meaning "In the Beginning," is inscribed at the top of the window on the right side of the Bimah wall and the Ark. The last word of the Torah, "Yisrael," "Israel," is inscribed at the bottom of the window to the left of the Bimah. The doors to the Ark, which contains the Torah scrolls, are inscribed with the words to the "Shirat Hayam," the song which the Israelites sang after crossing the Red Sea on their way out of slavery. The inscription above the Ark on the Bimah wall reads, "U'fros aleinu sukkat sh'lomekha," meaning "Spread over us the shelter of your peace." |

The entire Adath facility, including the Bimah, is fully accessible to the handicapped. Electronic aids are available for those with impaired hearing and large-font books for the vision-impaired. |
